Since updating their brand image in 2019, Russell Stover has gradually refreshed packaging but lacked an official style guide. This gap has created challenges with design consistency and collaboration, making it clear it was time to document their recipe for sweet success.
THE BRIEF
Create a guide for driving cohesion & consistency
Russell Stover needed a comprehensive style guide to capture their brand strategy, voice, and design principles. It had to clarify the roles of their portfolio pillars (Elegant, Lighthearted, and Sugar-Free) and be practical for internal teams and external partners. The guide aimed to ensure brand cohesion across all touchpoints, from stores to online.
WHAT WE DID
The Process
Outline
We began by establishing a user-friendly, intuitive theme for the style guide. The outline flowed naturally from a brand overview to detailed packaging for each pillar, with friendly copy ensuring the guide was accessible and dependable for all users.
Collaborate
Creating the style guide was a collaborative effort, combining insights from designers, production artists, and brand managers. Together, we captured design strategies and packaging details, producing a lasting resource for the company.
Distribute
The final step was deploying the style guide company-wide through departmental walkthroughs and addressing questions. It was then added to the company network for easy access and included in new hire orientations.
